Are these two compatible? I've read somewhere that they are not, but I bought both (as a package) from an ebay seller; according to him they are compatible.

Now after owing them for several years, I finally have a need for the 6000. Unfortunately, I can't make it work. I've set the device to RF in the editor and the channel and unit ID match. Am I missing anything?

I suppose either the TSU7000 OR the RFX6000 could be defective, but figuring out which one is faulty would be tough.

Anyone have an answer/advice/suggestion??

It is the device that contains the IR codes that must be set to to correct channel and unit. The device containing only UI pages does not matter.

And they are compatible as long as you have a US remote with a US Extender which operate on 418MHz frequency. You did not mention which, if any of the lights on the RFX6000 are coming on.
