Hi

I'm in the midst of bulding my new config but am starting to see an increasing number of th above errors when I try to learn the IR code via the pc with my 7500 attached via usb. I was wondering if anyone else had seen the problem and knew a way of resolving it...

Its a pain in the neck as using this learn function helps you know when you have/have not got a clean IR read... using the learn fcn on the device makes it much harder to do it...

Suggestions...?

Paul.

I've seen this as well and would be interested to know the cause. I found that rebooting PENG usually helped but sometimes I had to pull the batttery on the 7500 also. It seems that the more programmed in the 7500, the more frequently this happened.

I have to reset when that happens. I have found its just easier to load some pages into the remote that have the names of codes. Then I learn them directly to the remote. Upload then edit and make my links. Its the most consistent.

(But then again I often just grab my RTI IR learner as it usually gets it on the first try.)

Every Prontoid product, whether old generation or new generation, has problems learning into the computer. The advice from about day five has been: Don't do that.

Learn into the remote, upload to the computer, make graphic changes as desired, download to remote, learn more codes, upload to computer...

I have NEVER had a single problem learning codes this way except with early Marantz RC5400s and Pronto TSU3000s, and those flaws were inherent in the early units or earliest versions of the NG software. But I carry a TS1000 with me because it will learn ANYTHING I have ever thrown at it.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

My only issue with doing it via the remote way - is messy learnt codes. You can see str8 away if you have a good or messy (but may work) code. I am suprised if this is a common problem that it has not been worked on with the Philips team as a possible defect in the software/firmware. Is there a mechanism for reporting such a problem?

I realise you may be comfortable with the workaround of learning on the remote - but I would like to ensure I have the right codes on my setup rather than the fuzzy learnt ones on the remote that work but not all the time....

Thoughts..?

When this error appears, I usually go to the windows device manager, delete the pronto entry, and have the manager detect "new devices". The pronto is "installed" correctly, then.
Don't know whether this will solve your problems.
