I have a TSU7000 which after battery connection or reset works fine for about 5 minutes, both button presses and rocker switch operate and start the remote. After the 5 minute period the remote will only restart on power disconnection and reconnection or reset.

I have uploaded the latest Firmware and tried an alternative battery which has not resolved the problem, does anybody have any idea how this might be fixed?

I think I've found the answer to the problem on another post in this forum the post is called 'Sleep mode of death'... looks like I've got to get handy with a soldering iron or send it away for repair.

I have a TSU7500 and the exact same thing is happening to me. Can you tell me where you found the firmware date?

Philips Pronto web site.
You may have to register to access the downloads now. You did not have to until recently I think.

I get the same problem with my newly purchased TSU7500. I tried installing the lastest firmware (Firmware Version 3.8.17), but this did not solve the problem. If I am using the remote every few minutes, it will fall asleep and I can wake it, but if I leave it overnight, it doesn't wake.

BTW firmware can be downloaded from

I have found that the way in which the remote is placed/removed into/from the charger can greatly effect the frequency of lockups.

It seems that often my clients will have initial lockup problems until the get the hang of it.

I have suspected that the intermittent contact of a sloppy remote placement or removal causes the remote to freeze up.

It may not be scientific proof but it is something that I have observed MANY times.

When I place the remote in the charger, the blue lights come on, suggesting to me that the remote is correctly placed and charging.

Whilst the blue lights are on I can wake the remote in the charger. But if the blue lights go out (I assumed this was because the battery had fully charged) the remote will not wake. I am not removing the remote from the charger at any stage during these observations.

Will the blue lights on the charger switch off once the battery is charged?
Does a fully charged battery have something to do with it not waking?

Hate to say it GlaCial but it's sounding very much like there's either a problem with the battery or the remote's circuit board (specifically something related to power). I have a TSU7000 in daily use and it never locks up.

I don't understand why removing the battery and plugging it back in would wake the remote if it were a circuit board or battery problem. Care to hypothesize?

When the remote powers on when you plug the battery it goes directed to the full power state. After sleep voltages drop down and parts of the circuit are turned off. Your remote is faling to fell the wake up call or to re-power the parts of the circuit that went off in the sleep mode.
