Hi All,

First time caller. I just recently picked up a 3000 and have programmed it to my needs using the standard template (no custom buttons).

I like it and all, BUT I find that the response time from when I (for instance) punch in channel 501 to the time that it sends it to my box is very very slow.

The remote itself is reacting to touch - it beeps at an acceptable time, but the actual time it sends that signal is no where near the same. I have to wait about a second (unmeasured) in-between each digit punched.

Is this normal for this remote? If so, is the 3500 (or other Prontos) faster in this respect?

This is a very important usability issue for me, so if this is just a "Pronto thing", which RC would be the one for me? My needs are 6 devices, RF, Lutron, no serious macroing, but activity based programming.

Thanks in advance,

z

What cable/satellite box are you using?

Did you learn the digits or use some from the code database?

Hi mtgriff,

Thanks for the reply.

It occurs on both of my boxes, Pace 551HD and an older Huges DTV sat box.

One is learnt (551) and the Huges is from the Pronto software, if I can remember correctly.

This happens both with the RF extender or if I stand directly in front of the box and use IR.

Both have relatively the same delay, the Pace slightly less painful but still lags.

Thoughts?

Thanks again,

z

Sorry about all of the questions but what firmware version are you running on your TSU3000?

The latest version is 3.9.9. You can get it here from the files area.

I've heard users mention that the IR is a little slow but my TSU3000 changes channels on my Scientific Atlanta like lightning.

No appologies YOUR helping ME!

Here are my versions...

App: 3.9.12
DB: v2.5.3 U
Boot loader: 2.35b

I will update to 3.9.9 and let you know if this improves the situation.

Thanks again,

z

Back again,

Used that file, it was the same versions as I had, no change in performance.

I know that some users say to stay away from the codes in the code database because they can cause other problems. I don't know about that because I learned all of the codes for my devices. With learned codes sometimes you have to learn them more than once to get them just right. Some users here use programs to generate their codes. That's a little too advanced for me.

To be honest, it's been awhile since I got my Pronto. I do remember it being a little slow but not as slow as you describe. I've probably just gotten used to it. I don't think any of the other models are any faster.

I have a 7500, and it's not any faster than my old 3000.

My config file takes up only 5% of memory. I shudder to think how slow it would be if I had a really huge config file.
