I am thinking about purchasing an RFX6500 extender but I an concerned that it will add an unacceptable lag in reaction to a button press. Actions like Tivo's 3 fast forward clicks to speed through a commercial followed by a press of the play button could become difficult if there were too much lag. I am hoping that someone could relay there personal experience with this device.

I had an RFX6000 with a Pronto 7000 and noticed no lag whatsoever.

I'm using an rfx6500 with a tsu7500 and I get instantaneous response on all my equipment. I control two DirecTv HR20s (and before that, an HR10) along with a DVD player, DVD recorder and CD changer.
All button pushes are sent/received immediately and are as effective as the original remotes. I do use the emitters for my a/v equipment and have the blaster on the top of the a/v cabinet pointed at the tv, which is on an adjacent wall from my a/v cabinet.
I would highly recommend the 6500.

I use RFX6000 with a Pronto 7000. It is not as fast as the original IR remote, there is some delay. I find using the TiVo IR remote to be much snappier, especially when fast-forwarding at the fastest speed and trying to catch the beginning of the show. However, I like th not having to aim the remote, so I live with the slightly decreased response.

Actually check the code you use. I was using learned codes for the tivo and it always seemed just a little slow. I needed a code in a hurry and bulled a Tivo (o) code from the RTI cml. I was really surprised at how much faster the Tivo responded. Just something to try.
