Hi all,

The hard buttons on my TSU3000 stopped working 2 days agon. The touch screen and all buttons on it work great. When I "reset" the remote the hard buttons seem to work for 2-3 presses and then go dead again.

Philips want's $230 + tax to fix and I'm not sure that at this point it's worth it.

Has anyone had this problem as well?

Any thoughts are appreciated - thanks.

Yes mine did this about three weeks ago and someone else posted the same thing then also. What happens to mine is the contrast dims and the hard buttons don't work. If I bang it they will work again for a period of time but as time goes by it is getting worse.

I find it strange that it seems to be starting to happen to more people.

I would really like a reply as to what might be causing this.

  1. Have you made any recent changes to your configuration?

  2. Have you upgraded your firmware recently?

  3. Have you upgraded your ProntoEdit software recently?

  4. Do the hard buttons work if you change devices?

  5. Do you use AAA batteries or the docking station?

  6. If you use AAA batteries have you changed them?

  7. If you use the docking station do the hard buttons work while the remote is in the docking station?
It is worth $230 to repair a 3000? If you send your 3000 in and get a 3500 in return then it is but there is no guarantee that you will. You can get a replacement 3000 from eBay for around $100.

The things i think could have caused this:

1. you pressed the hardbuttons to hard, or let the remote sit upside down on the buttons. Or somehow pressure was put on them.

2. Your firmware is out of date.

My TSU3000 has started showing the exact same behavior. I find if I remove the back cover, it will tend to behave okay, but still intermittent. Also, somtimes if I grab the top right corner and bottom left corner and flex it a bit, but it doesn't last.

Anyone ever find a solution to the problem, or is this TSU3000 toast?

Ray,

I had this problem a wile back and I did manage to fix it accidentally. lol, well, one day i got mad at the button that wasn't functioning well and pressed it as hard as I could. From then on it just started to work fine again. I don't exactly suggest doing this, but I think my button was just dislocated or popped out, or something. Maybe just a push in would do the trick.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's the case with mine as it's all the hard buttons that stop working (even the contrast adjustment), and it's intermittent - when they start working, they all start working fine.

You have a motherboard problem in the chip that controls the buttons. Your unit is dead in my point of view, sorry. Sell the screen for parts.
