Hi,

does anyone have the descrete codes for setting a cablecom receiver? It's this one:
Advanced Digital Broadcast, Mdl. ABQ-1Q5A - also known as ADB 7100CX Digital Video Recorder ([Link: adbglobal.com])

It's the only receiver you are allowed to use in Switzerland as DVB-C device. It's possible to controlled it via Logitech Harmony ([Link: mit-sempach.ch]) but with my TSU7000 in the learning mode I can't read the correct codes. What´s wrong?

I just moved to Switzerland in mid-December, and got a Cablecom Digital TV Recorder. made by ADB. When I tried learning the codes, the 7500 said "OK", but i have been unable to control anything on the cablecom box using my 7500. I have not even gotten to the point of discretes, since I am still workign with basic commands: Power, Enter, and the numbers. Do either of you have a CCF with the basic commands? That would let me get started.

We are also looking for the codes for this device. We have contacted the manufacturer and CableCom, so far with no luck (Manufacture said to conact CableCom, CableCom says to look on the internet). Please let me know if you have any success.

I've found something more on this at the following link:

I have downloaded the CCF and at first Glance, the Device code looks wrong as it is 006D where the codes using the learning more of the Pronto 9600 are all 006E (and some codes do actually work that I learnt with the remote).

I don't have access to the Cable box here at home as this is in the office being setup for a customer, but I will test this tomorrow and let you know on the outcome. Maybe I could try to change the device code to 006E and see if this brings any results. I could also post the codes I have but less than 50% are working, but maybe this will enable someone to get the remaining codes working??

That 006D or 006E is NOT a Device code. It is an approximate modulation wavelength. It is perfectly normal for it to differ between two correct samples.

That couldn't help and it might hurt.

Most of the other numbers in each Pronto Hex string are approximate durations, all measured in units of that modulation wavelength. So changing the 006D without changing all of those will shift all the durations. This IR protocol is very picky about durations. No IR protocol (including this one) is very picky about the modulation wavelength.

That tiny shift in durations couldn't make a perfect code fail. But this IR protocol is very hard to learn well. The best learns are usually borderline and any shift has a significant chance of pushing it from borderline to bad.

If the ones from that CCF don't work (though my best guess is they will work) post your codes and identify which work.

I'm pretty sure I know enough about this IR protocol to use info from a few working learns to deduce how to correct all the non working learns.

Hi, Thanks for your prompt reply. As I said, I will try the codes we found in the morning (Central Europe Time), and post an update. If the test is negative, then I will post the codes with details of the ones that are working. Any help on this would be greatfully apprecieted. I know there are at least a couple of other people here looking for these codes too.

Our NevoSL had no problem learnign the codes, but we can't view learnt codes from this device :-(

I can confirm that the codes from the Link I gave earlier works with the CableCom PVR Digital Recorder 7100CX

I don't yet have the Discreet On & Off codes, therefore is anyone knows how to find these I would really apprecite some help.

I'd also be interested to know why the Pronto did not learn the codes directly and I have asked Philips to look into this (but no sure if I will get an honest answer).

I also have some Panasonic device which I am also trying to find the Discreet codes for: AV-Receiver TH-37PV600E, Plasma TV TH-37P600E, Projector PT-AX100E

Probably they don't exist.

But I think the device uses commands from a set of 256 signals. With the MakeHex program you can generate a clean set of all 256 signals. Then with the IrPanels program you can convert that into a CCF file with 256 numbered buttons. Then merge that CCF into your own CCF, load into your Pronto, and test all 256 buttons to see what they do. If discretes exist you would probably find them.

Using MakeHex for this IR protocol is probably far from obvious. It would take me some investigation time to figure it out and I wrote MakeHex. I'll try to find some time soon to investigate and explain. (For most other IR protocols, the readme file in MakeHex.zip should tell you more than enough).

I'll probably want to see a few of your working learns. For MakeHex I need to know what really correct signals look like. As I explain below, signals in this IR protocol might work without being correct. I expect the CCF you found is correct, but to be more confident, I'd like to compare a few signals you learned that work to the same signals in that CCF that work.

Good luck. I wouldn't expect much from customer support.

I do know why most learning remotes fail to learn these signals. I'm less sure of why some learning remotes sometimes learn them well.

Almost all IR signals (including these) are based on a series approximate durations. The learning remote measures and stores the durations. But each duration tends to be slightly mismeasured.

Almost all other IR signals use just a few different durations and no two durations are close to each other. So if a signal includes several durations that are close to each other, you can conclude that they were originally all the same duration and were mismeasured. Then you can correct them all to some value in the middle of the grouping and thus store a more correct signal than you actually captured. Most learning remotes do something like that.

But this IR protocol uses many different durations, which don't differ from each other by much. When a learning remote sees a group of durations that are all close to each other, that likely contains two different original durations. So when it "corrects" them to some middle value some (maybe all) of them become wrong.

To further complicate things, this IR protocol has signals that are unusually long and complex and much of the information in each signal is ignored by the actual device. So you could learn a set of signals and have at least one error in every learn and yet several of those signals would work anyway because their errors happen to be in parts of the signal that the device ignores.

Numbers: 1, 2, & 5. 8 = 7 (pressing 7 gives 8)

I downloaded the CCF from the link you had, but I can't get the box to respond. Is there a particular trick to importing CCFs into PCFs that I'm not aware of?

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply, I've not checked this thread for a while. I just imported this into the Philips pronto software (for the TSU 9600) and it worked. I then cut an pasted the Hex into 'My Database' as I could not find an easier way to do this. If you need me to, I can send the CCF I downloaded.

I am also trying to get the ADB 7100CX to respond. Got it new from Cablecom one Week ago. I have tried everything i could (learning in different ways like short or long press etc. as discribed somewhere on this site, learning without pc software) and i have also tried the ccf mentioned in this thread but the box doesn't respond. My Pronto is a RU990 (TSU7500). I have also tried the older RU950. See also [Link: remotecentral.com]. I am really lost now.
