I've customized my Pronto with many of the ccf's found here and it's been working great, through many gear upgrades, for about 2 years now.

A change in physical HT arrangement and the yearn to put outdoor speakers, etc, leads me to try the RF band. I have the RF / IR module ([Link: remotecentral.com]) on order and was wondering if anyone had any sage adivce for someone who is basically done with the programming, but might have to eventually also "learn" commands via IR.

1) will the initial switch to RF be seamless? (meaning all my codes will still work coming out of the [Link: remotecentral.com]) - or did you have any funky stuff happen?

2) If need to "learn" some codes from my other remotes, can they be pointed at the RF/IR repeater (and the code will go to the Pronto via RF), or am i better off switching the pronto back to IR and putting it directly in learn mode and the 2 remotes head to head?

Thanks,

Fernando

1/ Usually. Sometimes delays and durations need to be changed. And interference can be a problem - such as cheap halogen light transformers and being too close to speakers.

2/ Learning has nothing to do with the repeater. You learn exactly the same way as you do now - directly from your Pronto. You don't switch anything back.

I would cancel that and get the newer 6500. It also has an extendable antenna to give even more distance, I believe the filtering is much better to cancel out noise.

my 2 cents...

Hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones. I never had very good luck with the 6000's, but many here say they have. Maybe worked on 2 consistaantly out of a dozen. Working on 5 out of 6 with the new ones, I did not even bother with their RF, thats what led me to RTI. Maybe there is still hope.

Hakalugi,
love your member name. It is one of the few that have made me laugh out loud. Then I had this odd urge to spit....

I have used several of the 6000s and have not had any problems after initial setup. Initial setup problems seem to have been solved by changing the switch settings. I am not sure why, and think maybe the switches just weren't making good contact and needed to be rotated to get into their groove, literally.

The other product sounds like it has some good ideas to receive the signal even better, but you will probably do well with the 6000.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
