Just imported a ccf that I have used on a TSU2000 for a while. The speed of the buttons when downloaded on the TSU3000 is much slower. For instance I have to pause between each button press or the pronto will not send out all of the commands. Also, macros are much slower. There is a delay between each command even when none are entered. Will a firmware/software upgrade improve this? Also, does Philips plan on adding a "back" feature to return to the previous screen? I apologize if this question has been asked in another thread.

TIA!

Honestly we are not sure when things are gonna to be fixed. We didn't even know that the 3000 was even coming out last week. And as far as I know, non of the pros have one yet. Either because it's not in our area's. Or we don't want it just yet until the bugs are fixed.

Thanks for the reply, I'm going to try and relearn the buttons directly on the new remote and see if that improves speed. Also anyone know when there will be a downloads section for the NG, I'd love to see some galleries and PCFs that others have created.

I relearned a few of the commands. It did not make any difference. Let's hope for some new firmware.

Download the default pcf. Learn some commands into that one. And test out the speed. Maybe there is a bug in the importing system.

Rob, I downloaded the factory pcf, learned a few buttons and still the same slow speed. BTW they are channel buttons for one of the older sony sat boxes. The newer boxes themselves react slowly to commands but the one I have is fast.

The "Back" feature is available as a special action "Browse Backward".

I have the same problem, and did some A/B tests with my TS1000/01 and TSU3000/01. I tapped the hard buttons as fast as I could, and counted the beeps per second. This was done with no actions for the hard buttons, so IR length isn't an issue.

1000: 72 beeps per 10 seconds
3000 (hard buttons): 31 beeps per 10 seconds
3000 (firm buttons): 25 beeps per 10 seconds

NOTE: I've observed that when rapidly hitting buttons, the 1000 issues an IR command for each beep. The 3000 issues an IR command for every 2 or 3 beeps. (So, the 3000 is even slower than these numbers indicate.)

This is exceptionally irritating with TiVo. I can get through a commercial break in no time with 30-second skip and the 1000. It takes many, many attempts to get the remote to respond with the 3000.

I like everything else about the remote's new features, but I'm not sure I'll be able to cope with the lag. I guess that's what I get for being an early adopter. :( Maybe the 3000 will stay in it's box for a while until there's a firmware update.

I've also noticed that if the backlight is off when you hit the four hard buttons around the directional pad, the backlight turns on, but the actions for the button don't happen. All the other hard and firm buttons (including the directional pad) turn on the backlight* and perform their actions. Not good.

This ends up making it three presses for some of my most common actions. The first turns on the backlight. The second gets dropped on the floor, because the remote wasn't ready for it. Then, the third finally gets it. Blech.

* Unlike my TS1000/01, hitting the hard buttons turns on the backlight for the screen, rather than just the backlight for the hard buttons. Bummer. I suppose there's just one backlight now, so it was unavoidable.

Whoa! This is a major application for me, controlling my Dishnetwork 721 PVR. Unresponsive buttons are a major downer. I may just delay upgrading from my 1000 until I hear this has been solved.

Can you tell me the sys version and firmware that came with the TSU3000?

Beau,
Man, you have one heck of a fast finger. I set up my computer to count keystrokes as I pushed a key and the fastest I could come up was 67 pushes in 10 seconds and there was no way I could count them. :)

Does pressing the buttons around the cursor turn on the screen light, button light, or both? Are you saying those buttons take one push to turn the light on and then another push to send the command while some of the other buttons turn the light on and send there command with one push?

Thanks
Dave

alsuba - thanks for the response. I haven't really looked at the software much yet, but I didn't see it at first glance, I'll give it a shot.

jcl. Was that from out of the box firmware? Or did you do the firmware updater that is on the philips web site?

At this time I am not sure what firmware came with the software. But I would assume that it is older than the firmware that is the web site.
