Want to see all the pictures/icons you have in your PCF or want to get the pictures out of someone elses?? Just change the .pcf extension to .zip and unzip the file. They will all be extracted to a folder named bitmaps along with the xlm code for the program. I nove have over 280 bmp pictures in my PCF that were all drawn for the new PENG. If you have a PCF file that you would like to share please email it to me and I will return the favor. David Shaw archer@mewlan.com

One more advantage with ProntoEdit NG. Import a CCF file and apply the same as said by David. Boom! Now, you have the bmps in the CCF.

I imported a color 9200 ccf file into PENG just to test it, then saved as PCF, then renamed to zip, then unzipped it. All the color bitmaps up to 24 bits are there. What would happen if I used those on a TSU3200? Do I have to change them to the 16 shades or will the software of the hardware handle that?

if those images are part of the PCF, then that is ready for the download to the remote. The remote must use that info to dram the pic. Have you looked at it in the emulator?

I just saw that David Harrison pointed out on another thread that the NG software downcoverts the color to 16 shades (if I read it right). It is the tread about ? color TSU3000. "The fact that you can import colour bitmaps into Prontoedit NG and it retains the colour on the editing screens and downconverts when it sends it to the remote or the emulator may be a hint that a colour version is eventually coming."

One thing we'll have to rigorously test once we have access to these remotes is "Is the automatic gray-scale conversion good enough to eliminate the need to do it manually outside of PENG?" For example, if I obtain a colour channel logo, is it worth doing the downconversion in Photoshop or PaintShop Pro, or is the built-in conversion good enough? I suspect we'll need to try it with the real remotes and see if there is any noticeable difference in the end results. If there isn't, it'll be much easier for us to take advantage of colour graphics for logos and such.
