Any idea if and when a Marantz version of the Pronto NG will be released? If so, has anything be announced about what will be different in it?

I have a Marantz pre-amp.. would love to keep the same name brand for asthetics.. ;)

I doubt it.

I was told that Marantz WAS apart of philips. Which is why they have remotes out there that was made by philips. But since Marantz isn't apart of philips anymore, it's most likely it won't happen.

This could also be the reason why the marantz's remotes have different features.

Philips seems to like building different models for companies that want them (Yamaha, Onkyo, Crestron and even the last two Marantz models came out after they split), so I'd exept a Marantz version EVENTUALLY, assuming Marantz wants one. They'll likely be happy with the RC5200 and RC9200 for a while longer.

Yeah Im sure of that too. They like them so much that they don't release a firmware for it.

Rob

PS. What was the last time for a firmware update for the Marantz line of remotes?

The RC3200 was updated in November, the RC5200 and RC9200 were updated in October.

Just to be fair to Rob, the firmware update didn't fix the most glaring problem - the lockup associated with jumping to the macro side.

Daniel's probably right about Marantz being able to get a new version if they want one. Some of the software features in the 3000, such as jump back/forward and multiple jumps, were actually engineered (or at least funded), by Marantz. Marantz long retained exclusive rights to these features. The fact that they've finally showed up in a Philips remote leads me to believe there is still some sort of relationship/colaboration going on.

Playing Devil's Advocate, it could also mean that Marantz opted out of their "exclusive" on the new Pronto line as they wern't going to go with it. :-)

the NEO has multiple jumps.... and Marantz has the equivalent RC3200. I think the agreement might have only been for CCF based remotes

Excellent point, the 3200 also has timers, I believe. This was also previously a no-no.
