That function is not supported by the software. You can however make a timer with a shut off time of 3am and include a macro with codes to turn off your equipment. When you want to set it, just go to the timer and click edit, then click on the day off the week that 3am would be (tommorrow). This is really not that much trouble to set once you do it a couple of times. If your already using this method you know what I mean. Although it is a shame that your way is not available yet.

Basically, yes such a timer can be created, but no you can't press a button to activate it. Whenever a timer has enough information, it's active. There's no way to enable or disable a timer then via the method Brady describes. Also, in order to edit a timer on the remote it must be located in the Macro side and can be the only function on that button (although the timer itself can point to a macro).

I can hear people thinking of that "is timergroup" setting in ProntoEdit. That's only for the creation of new buttons -- if a group is set to "timergroup", all blank buttons will default to a timer when edited. Otherwise they default to a macro.

Stick it in the sofa. That will deactivate it.

Norm's was the solution I've arrived at also.

At 3am every morning all my gear is turned off, and the Home Page is returned to. If I don't want this to be the case, then my Pronto tries it's hardest to turn off the insides of my sofa for a few minutes.

That is, until they release an update with some more flexible timer functions...

Well, it looks like you guys have answered my question. I'm in search of a countdown timer to turn off my equipment in 30, 60 or 90 minutes. My hope was to execute the function via a button.

Please let me know if anyone has developed a way to do this. I'm sure a software writer could manage this with ease.

Unfortunately, there's no way to trigger a timer action yet, so you can't have a "sleep" facility.

I'm experimenting with making the Pronto beep at, say, 2:55am to tell me that it's going to turn everything off in 5 mintutes, so if I want to avoid that I've got to block the IR signal. There are a few niggles with this though:

- if I'm still up and watching tv, I don't always hear the Pronto
- if I'm in bed and all equipment is off I hear the Pronto (small house)
- The macro also jumps back to my home page, as it assumes everything has been placed in it's off status. Therefore, if this is not the case I've to get back to where I was (which involves blocking more IR codes when switching to devices).

Like I say, a timer interrupt/cancel/trigger feature would be of use here, methinks.

Joe: you can use delays to do what you want, BUT:
1) A delay is .1 to 99.9 sec., so a 30 min =15*90sec....
2) You cannot use your Pronto during that time (I think if you use it, it will stop the action)

Anthony -- yup, all correct.

I've found a way round this, and explained it in more detail in a "getting clever with the timer" post, but the basics are:

Use the timer to trigger a button that does the following at 3am every morning:
- Beep
- Delay 30 secs (or however long)
- run an "everything off" macro
- jump to your home page

at 3am your Pronto will beep and sit there for 30 seconds. In that 30 seconds the right button will change to say "Stop". If you're still watching tv then pressing the right button will prevent everything from being turned off. If not, then everything will go off and your Pronto will be reset for the morning.

Joe,

I have some macros set up to do exactly what you want, basically a bunch of stacked delays with a system off macro called at the end.. unfortunately it 'locks' the pronto while in use, except you can cancel the operation with the right hard key..

I will post my ccf to the site so you can grab that chunk out of it..

Long time no post

Still using my TSU 1000 and it works just fine.

Having not used PE (if I can still find it on the computer) in many years, is there a way to set up a macro timer on the TSU 1000 itself without the use of PE?

Yes there is. There should hopefully be an TSU1000 manual somewhere on this site. To setup timers, you have to be able to get to the options/setup menu which may have been hidden by a flag specified in your current CCF.

Thanks but I was hoping to receive a step by step procedure/reply to accomplish this

As you wish. ;-)

1. Go here:

[Link: files.remotecentral.com]

2. Click the TSU1000 user manual link...

[Link: files.remotecentral.com]

3. Open up the TSU1000 user manual PDF...

See the table of contents and for Page 24:

6. Recording Macros and Setting Timers 24

4. Navigate the PDF to view Page 24-29.
Pages 27-29 provide 12+ steps to accomplish what you ask.

5. With regard to the 'Mode' button that allows you to setup timers on the remote, please see this link if you think it is not visible (hidden) by the config you currently have in your remote.
