I ordered the HK remote for $268 delivered on
Nov. 20 from shop4.com. I was told the order
was at the vendor awaiting shipment to me.

I am skeptical they are in stock and will probably
cancel.
regards

Does anyone know if the HK is made in the USA? If it is then there is no duty to Canada which is a big plus for me as duty for it would be a bout 25% of cost!

I doubt it. Very little electronics like this are made in North America. Who would have thought the Pronto was made in Belgium? Since the product is coming from the States, however, chances are you'll only have the standard duty charged on home theater equipment (if there even is one).

I wouldn't panic. My Pronto arrived today from Jack Schulz. It came in a big cardboard box slightly over twice the size of the Pronto box. (In fact it was a FedEx box turned inside out because it was shipped via UPS. Buy one, you won't regret it.

I just received word from a local HK dealer (in Canada) that he is expecting a shipment of the Take Control units by the end of next week. Further, he claims that there is an introductory price of $529.00 CDN. (approx. $340 USD). Last week he gave me a quote of $650 - $700 CDN. Any further comparative (between the Pronto and Take Contro) testimonials out there?

Shop4 told me they can send to Ontario, but I don't know about other provinces. Shop4 gave me a price of 264 with shipping included. Also, the Listening Room has some Pronto's in stock if anyone is interested. They want full price.

I'm not sure exactly - I'll have to wait for my credit card bill. I went for UPS International
Express (2 days) which is listed on their web-site as $47.

I just called shop4.com. They stated that my HK remote shipped yesterday via UPS but, curiously, are unable to provide me the UPS tracking number. I ordered the unit a week ago today.

Has anyone received an HK from shop4.com yet?

How they can tell you anything about order status is beyond me because shop4.com does NOT stock anything. That's why it takes up to 10 days to process anything. Everything is shipped direct from the manufacturer. Let us know if it shows up.

I also checked my order status on 12/2, and was told that my order shipped 12/1. I ordered my unit on 11/1.

They were unable to provide me w/a tracking number either, but this is not terribly unusual in a drop-ship situation.

They *should* know whether the item has shipped or not, because that is the time that the CC is charged. (I assume, since the charge did not show up on my last Amex bill..)

Will report status.

You should be able to get the tracking number
direct from UPS. They can do a search based on
the recivers or shippers address or both.

Well, the HK remote is great! I am not at all computer savy, yet had no difficulty quickly programming it up, with sophisticated macros and all.

Bad points: the infrared shooter stinks. I have to point the unit directly at my equipment, unlike the Marantz 2000 which I can even point 180 degress away. Also, the HK is annoyingly slow to change screens. Lastly, the touchscreen is a little too finicky for my liking.

Overall it is a great remote that will finally allow my wife and guests to operate our system.

I bought it from shop4.com for $297 including shipping. Call 1-800-555-5363 for them.
