Are there any TASK based remotes coming?

What do I mean by that?

Rather than organize a remote by "devices"
I'd like to see it organized by task.

For example:

Watch AC3-LD

Which might have basic Pause/Play/FF, Dialog Compression button (which might require a macro), THX Button, Analog Tracks Button to listen to commentary (also likely a Macro). All on one
page.

And when entering this "task" it would send out
a "macro" of commands to turn the devices on
and tell the TV which Video input, Turn on the
sub etc.

It's sound like the Pronto (Although very powerful
and a neat package) that it's still device based design.

When I want to execute a "macro" I don't want to
have to go to the macro "group". I want to add
a button to the "TASK" I'm in.

The most simplest design would be that there
are NO devices. And every button is a macro.
Also a button that can jump to ANY other page of
buttons and another to pop back. I think that's
all that's needed.

Based on what I've been reading the Pronto is
designed similar to the Marrantz Mark I/II
Just slicker, and more capacity.

I'm incouraged by the picture of the Microsoft
remote that shows potentially what I'm talking
about. It shows TASKS, rather than a full screen
taken up with VCR controls.

But I'm also concerned that the Microsoft unit
is not a touch screen. It looks like it might
be cursor driven.

I believe maybe you can bend the Pronto into
what I'm looking for as is or perhaps with
PC software it can be completely customized.

My goal is to select a TASK and leave that
one page up for the entire task and do most
things I might do during that task which
may involve macros. The user should not need to know the difference of executing a macro or
a normal IR command. No holding down (like Marrantz did) and special page you have to go
to. It should be seamless.

Can the Pronto do this?
Can the Microsoft unit do this?
Can the Pilot based units do this?

I think the $2000.00 remotes (ala Lexicon) can
do this. But can this next generation of affordable LCD's do this?
