OK, I've heard back from my contacts at Philips. They aren't merely customer service reps; these guys know what they're talking about.
The Pronto *is* definitely shipping, however in limited quantities and it may be backordered at some places. It has not been delayed. So, now the big question is where it can be found.

As I said in my forum message called "Pronto prices" - I have the name of a dealer who says he would sell the Pronto $50 off the MSRP of $399!!
As soon as I have confirmation I will post it.
