when setting a delay time after a certain command in a macro, does the delay setting take up 1 command in the macro or is it just in addendum to a command like on the RC2000mkII?

It acts like a command. ie:

1 - VCR "Power"
2 - Delay 25ms
3 - TV "Power"
4 - TV "Video 1"
5 - Delay 100ms
6 - VCR "Play"

I doubt you're going to run out of space with up to 255 commands, though.

is the delay time in milliseconds or seconds?

Milliseconds. That allows for very tight timing.

The delay resolution is 0.1 second and delays can be set to any value from [0.1, 99.9].

Hmm, my goof then - not milliseconds. That's what you get for not looking at the thing as you answer... :-)

what is the default timing if you don't include a delay command after a command in a macro? hopefully it wouldn't be too fast that some gear would miss some of the commands

It's pretty much instant. It just... works. It's quite nice, actually, since I can turn my whole system on in a quarter of a second! :-)

I use a Hi-Fi pre-amp and a processor. I have yet to hear a Home Cinema Amp that gives me the same sound quality on CD playback. Can a Macro be set to take the volume from 0 - 50% (by telling the pronto how long the key should be held down for)?

Not currently, unless you can figure out how many times the button has to be pushed to equal 50%.

I think timed button pushes as a bad thing, however - what if you press it while you're already at 50%? Suddenly you're at 100% and you've just blown your speakers...

Not when you have this quality setup:

KEF 104/2 main speakers

driven by

Audiolab 8000C pre-amp (set to 0 gain)
4x Audiolab 8000MX mono power amps (bi-amping mains)

You'd blow your ear drums before the main speakers.

My friends say I have more money than sense :)
