My RU940 is on its last legs. So I'm looking to replace it.

Most of the Prontos on eBay are the later colour models. I'm unfamiliar with these, is there a model to avoid or are they all pretty much the same ?

There's different generations of Pronto remotes... there's the first color model the Pro (passive screen, probably best to avoid), then the NG in both B&W and color, and then the Professional in color.

Passive Matrix LCD on the TSU 6000 equivalent remotes (Marantz RC9200) and they have a variable resistor-driven contrast setting (wheel).

The 7x00 Next Gen Remotes use Active Matrix LCD and you don't have to adjust the color.

My favorite of that vintage of Pronto-related devices is the Marantz RC5200. It's black and white and has the advantage of having a physical cursor pad off the screen.

The 5200's screen is just as wide as the Pronto, but about 1/2" higher, with more pixels, meaning more space for buttons.

You can open your Pronto file in the Marantz Touch Screen Setup, which is also available here in the files section. It will appear to be short (top to bottom) because of the added pixels.

See if you can find an RC5200!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I liked the RC9200 color model. Was my main reason for updating Leo's SuperNudeList program to work with Color.
