OK I posted the same question on the pronto professional forum but this may be where I should have posted.

I purchased a Yamaha RX-Z1 receiver but it arrived with the wrong remote.  It should have come with RAV2000 instead, it came with RAV212.  Instead of spend close to $400 for an 10 years old replacement RAV2000.  There must be better ways, right?

According to this article by Daniel Tonks (Remote Central), The RAV2000 was pronto based.  IS there a way to buy a newer pronto and install the old yamaha code onto it?  Should I use a Pronto classic or a Pronto NG as RAV2000 replacement?  How to get the Yamaha code?

Thanks for helping, I am a total newbie so pardon my uninformed questions.

You cannot put the RAV2000 firmware into a TSU1000/2000. The RAV2000 also had yamaha IR codes built into a database that the editor utilized. Those shortcuts are not available in the TSU series.

However, Yamaha protocol is NEC and there are quite a few files in the files section (use RXV900 and look for a file/spreadsheet with extended codes) that will work.

So, you can take the sample config from RAVEdit, load it into ProntoEdit, and then add the codes you need from spreadsheet or another config you find in the files section.

Thank you Lyndel for you help.  I am a complete ignorant on the remote stuff, so please bear with me.

May I assume the Pronto classic consist of TSU1000, TSU2000 and TSU6000 with TS6000 being the only one with color screen.  But RAV2000 firmware CANNOT load onto any of those 3 due to the IR codes.

What did you mean by Yahama code is "NEC"?  Assuming once someone do what you suggested, merging field and all.  Will the newly refigured codes allow the TSU to have fully functionalities of RAV 2000?

I really won't trust myself to do it and get it done right.  Are there gurus on this forum performs such services with a fee?

Thanks again for helping.

Correct on versions and the RAV firmware cannot be loaded onto Philips remote, period!!!

Yamaha codes use the NEC IR protocol. What I'd recommend is that you download ProntoEdit 4, find some configs with Yamaha IR codes and go from there. Also note that you should be able to open the Sample config that comes with Yamaha Rav softare (you should be able to find it in the files section) into ProntoEdit 4. At this point, you should be able to simply copy/paste IR codes from a spreadsheet found with many of the downloads for Yamaha codesets in the Classic Pronto Files Section.
