This system was professionally installed years ago. Got a new tv and was playing around with the setup and was not thinking when I hit the revert button. It appears there was a custom programming (ccf?).
Is it possible to undo the revert? I have a similar setup in the bedroom. Is it possible to copy what is loaded on the bedroom remote and reinstall it on this reverted remote? Will try to find the installer, is it likely they would have saved the settings/programming?. I have all the remotes for receiver, cd changer, vcr, dvd, tivo. Just wanted to find the easiest way back. Thanks!

Sorry - but a revert does indeed wipe out the file.

Is the bedroom configuration identical, or merely similar? It's easy to re-upload the file (assuming someone has a copy and a computer with a serial port), and if the bedroom file is identical you could indeed transfer it (once again assuming you have a computer with a serial port and appropriate cable). Even if it isn't identical, it could be used as a starting point..

They are not identical, but have some of the same layouts. I figure I'd use as a starting point.

I don't have the file. Can I copy it from/off of the bedroom remote? Or do files only go one way from computer to remote? Looks like installation was back in 2006 based on the specs - sys v1.1 5/23/2001, app v1.1 5/23/2001, ccf 01/17/2006.

I do have an old laptop with serial port, anything special as far as the cable (#pins or something)? I figure i can get one at frys or ebay.

See the FAQ link for info about building a cable (Toshiba Digital Camera cable likely will work).

You can upload the config from bedroom remote but I would only recommend doing so if both remotes have exactly the same set of programming for the same exact type of equipment.

Yes, sorry, but the Revert process does erase the custom configuration file (ccf).

I'm near the 605 and Lincoln, and you're not very far from me. You could learn how to do this, but it's a time-consuming project. I have programmed Prontos for years and could do the programming for you. Without seeing it yet, I'd say I'd start with the bedroom system as a guideline of how the control was laid out, and to take advantage of any custom graphics you're using. You'd have a copy of the file for each remote when I'm done.

I carry a TS1000 with me as a reference remote and I have one of the correct cables for downloading and uploading.

And now, having some idea from my email of the possible cost of this mistake, the original poster is taking some time out, I'm guessing.

This very mistake is why I tried to remember to always lock those menu screens so a person had to know where to press for five seconds on only one screen to get into the place where Revert could be hit. I myself have sat, jaw agape, watching things I worked on for a couple of hours just turn into digital dust.
