Recently my cable box was replace by comcast because it was faulty. I now have a cisco RNG200n. My pronto model is rc5000 by Marantz. I recently download and Excel spread sheet from this web site giving me IR hex codes: For example

Power

0000 006A 0000 0000 0007 0023 0007 0043 0007 001D 0007 006E 0007 0033 0007 0033 0007 002D 0007 0068 0007 01F4 0007 0023 0007 001D 0007 001D 0007 001D 0007 001D 0007 006E 0007 001D 0007 001D 0007 0C50 0007 0023 0007 0043 0007 001D 0007 006E 0007 0033 0007 0033 0007 002D 0007 0068 0007 01F4 0007 0023 0007 0048 0007 0048 0007 001D 0007 001D 0007 006E 0007 001D 0007 001D 0007 0000

When I Set IR in either prontoedit or touch screen set up I get the message "data does not define valid ir code" I believe I am copying and pasteing correctly. What else can I try?

Change all the code entries you downloaded such that the first 4 sets of numbers match this the ones below. Then contact the site owner where you downloaded and let them know they have an issue with the spreadsheet they are providing.

Dear Mr. McGee: Thank you very much for responding to my questions> I did get the spread sheet off of remote central at the following link.

[Link: files.remotecentral.com]

Your changes resulted in Touch screen set up accepting the codes. This also allowed me to realize I did not exactly know what to do next. My goal is simple: I want my pronto rc5000 to work with the new cable box the same way it did with the old one. Right now for example when I hit "Cable" on the home screen of my Marantz: The TV and preamp come on but the cable box does not. Before all three devices were activated my that one botton. When I use pronto or touch screen I do the following: I go to devices (cable) and then properties . Then I hit set IR and the new screen asks me: the device, brand name and code set. I put non applicable in each and then I enter the hex code in the large white lower field. Then I assign it a name ie power for example. Then I have the pronto learn it. But my question is this and forgive me if I do not express it well "when I hit cable on my remote will it activate the power"? (based on what I just taught the pronto). So you must of guessed with an ambigious question like that ....that I am of course a newbee to coding and pronto. Thank you very much

Addendum: Program responds normally to learning code but it time outs when I go to save it. I also believe I figured out my power question.

So I put in this command without the word power

Power
0000 006C 0012 0012 0008 0023 0008 0043 0008 001D 0008 006E 0008 0033 0008 0033 0008 002D 0008 0068 0008 01F3 0008 0023 0008 001D 0008 001D 0008 001D 0008 001D 0008 006E 0008 001D 0008 001D 0008 0C45 0008 0023 0008 0043 0008 001D 0008 006E 0008 0033 0008 0033 0008 002D 0008 0068 0008 01F3 0008 0023 0008 0048 0008 0048 0008 001D 0008 001D 0008 006E 0008 001D 0008 001D 0008 0C45

First I tried to learn this in the POWER section of devices. I did not know if I should also put in the power toggle section of cable.

It lets me learn the code but when I click ok it times out.

Also I am a little confused about filling in some of the fields such as device, brand and code. Is it necessary for me to get the word cisco in there?

Lastly in terms of Alias: Should I be choosing the alias "cable" under the power section?

Again my goal is to emit a cable command "on" when I push the key "cable" on my main menu screen of the rc5000

Thank you and cheers to you

PS i have the cable remote but It could not learn it when i pushed power

I understand prontoedit and tss really well now but there was a learning curve. Still I can not get the HOME button "cable" to power on. The proto enters the code which I believe is the correct code but I believe I am making a program error. It would be really helpful for me if I could get a birds eye view of what is in my pronto right now rather than one by one seeing what IR codes are in it. I tried CFF explorer but it gave me the error "ophan file". Is CFF the best program to get an overall view of what's happening?

If you really want to see what's going on, download CCFTools by Olivier De Couvreur and decompile your CCF file to either a CSF???(been way too long) file or an XML file.

I was able to get my cable box to power on with the power code provided. May I ask what are all those other codes for (excuse ignorance) ie function 0,1,2 etc.
I still need to tease things out because somehow I reprogrammed the jump button to be the on off button for the cable dvr (because I could not locate the cable on button that I assume was previously programmed into the pronto. But it is a matter of just digging and exploring until I find out what turned the previous cable box on. Thanks for your support

THINGS are going along nicely:

1 question:

I want to be able to push the CABLE button and only have it turn cable on ....not "first on" and "then off" ie I do not want it to toggle.

How do I do this

Bill
