Note that the Classic remotes have been discontinued since around 2003/4. This announcement was for the Professional line.

I too am saddened by this. I have started an online petition. I doubt I will get much interest, but if by some miracle I get a lot of signatures, maybe Philips will come to their senses? [Link: ipetitions.com]
