And I'm now staring at my TSU1000 and wondering what to do next? Should i keep it? Yeah, I dug it out of the electronics that were going to Goodwill and now I have devices that aren't listed in the ccf area and looks like i'll need to learn most of my components. And can I even go thru the complete programming and make it right? I have successfully charged the pronto, installed prontoedit and removed all the groups I won't use (LD, CDR, etc) Is there an easy way to put in my Kenwood KRF-X 9090, Westinghouse LVM-47w1 TV and my Dish VIP612? None are listed and i'll have to learn all the codes. Would it be easier to get a newer X10 Icon remote, Harmony or similiar? Oh, and I don't like programming of any kind, even dbase :-) Geez...my holidays will be spent configuring a 10 year old remote...help!

For newer equipment, you may be able to find all the codes in an NG PCF or a Pro XCF configuration. The ProntoHex, unless it is the shortened format will be the same. You can copy/paste codes between newer editor and PE4.

Thx Lyndel
Found one for the TV that works, that was easy. I found a .pcf but it won't import into the .ccf file. I'll keep looking around. It's not gonna be "the bomb" but I suppose as most families we watch tv, record dss and listen to stereo. That's about it, occassional DVD but with DSSHD and Netflix streaming, that's less and less also. Now, if I could only find the time (and codes) to use it with MS MCE. See, I'm already using my Valentine weekend programming this thing!
Thx
Tom

If you want to open PCF Files you will need to Download and Install Philips ProntoEdit NG and Copy & Paste each Hex Code as Lyndel said.

Have you tried any of these MCE Files?

If only all the other remote manufacturers could build a product that lasts as long as the TS-1000.

And if using MCE, you will want to search the NG forum for keywords MCE debounce as there is a registry setting that you may need to tweak to overcome a toggle bit issue.

The Pronto doesn't transmit RF for Dish, does it? For DSS/Dish, do I need an IR-> RF converter? Like the radio shack or X10 signal extenders? I've been looking at the different remotes listed here and other places, many on sale. However, I can't find any that list in their spec's that they transmit RF necessary for the Dish? Thanks!

You won't find one. RF is only used to transmit the IR codes. They are then converted back to IR at the receiving station. Unless Dish has IR capability as well as RF you're stuck with the original remote.

I am still using my Marantz RC5000. It's my one and only remote sitting on the coffee table.

I was just thinking that I wish someone would sell a new version of the TSU1000. A little more memory and a bright new B/W screen would be fine with me. I really don't need color for $800 on up. I have three TSU1000 that I'm still using but man are they getting hard to see because of the backlight.

After nine long years, my RC5000 (b&w) is still using the same battery!

It might be my imagination, but I think the screen is greener and dimmer.

I just got a colour RC9200 (used of course). The battery is worn. Will order a new one from prontowizard.com. Hopefully it'll last as long as my RC5000 battery.

EL panels do get dimmer with age. Sometimes quite quickly too. The LCD... well, I've seen those change with age as well. Mine have tend to gone blotchy.
