I currently use a Universal R50 for my home theater. I recently found my Pronto RU890 that worked flawlessly many years ago, and I suspect that if I were to reprogram it for my current components, I might like it better than my R50. The RU890 appears to still work, and being an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" guy, I would like to know which version of the ProntoEdit software would be the right choice for my current firmware. It has Sys V3.62 (dated 3/17/2000), App V4.85 (dated (3/17/2000) and my .ccf file is dated 6/18/2001.

On the other hand, if I should update the firmware, which version should I use, and what would be the corresponding version of ProntoEdit?

I've read the FAQ and did read the RU890 threads on this forum, and still could not determine which versions to proceed with. What versions should I use?

Thanks.

You want the latest ProntoEdit 4.2.X from files section. It will have the firmware you need. However, if you don't have an RS232 port on your system, you'll need to purchase a USB->Serial converter. This topic has been discussed recently in this forum. Have a look at a few of the threads, please.
