I am in the process of programming my TCU6000. I am learning the codes for Direct TV. Single function keys such as enter, list, delete etc. are no problem. When I try to enter channel numbers for example 3 6 2 the Pronto times out and only learns the first number or two and will not pick up the third number. Can anyone lend me some help on this?

Thanks ahead!

Trying to learn multiple key presses (such as a 3 digit channel number) should be done as part of a macro using the "alias" command. Read up on how to accomplish macros in the manual(s) available in the files area. Doesn't matter which software manual you use, macros are the same on all the legacy remotes.

You cannot learn 3 numeric keys together. You must learn them separately.

The best way to do this is to learn all keys off the remote and then use the ProntoEdit software to assemble "Macros".

If such terms/topics are unfamiliar, you might want to have a read through the FAQ.

Best of Luck.

Lyndel,

Thanks for the reply. I actually found that if I held the key on the Pronto for a little longer it would send all 3 digits to the device. I have read the section on Macros and understand their functionas I have used them on Microsoft Excel. I just have to apply that knowledge to this application. At the current time I do not have any Macros on my device but I'm going to take your advice and give it a try. I'm sure once you get the hang of it it is not too bad. Thaks again for the information.

There's a vocabulary problem here!

A single number is a command. Three digits, that is, a DirecTV channel number, is not a command, but a series of commands. If you're somehow able to record all three numbers directly to the Pronto, that's amazing and to my knowledge has never been done.

You're able to teach a command to the remote that will take you directly to, say, 249? If that's so, try teaching a command that will take you to 222 and see what you get.

Do what bomberjim suggests: learn each number, then use ProntoEdit 4, the latest version that can be found in the Files section, to create a macro of three numbers for each channel you want to go to via a single button press.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
