The touch screen sensitivity of my TSU2000 seems to be degenerating. Also, I've noticed that touching one icon, sometimes results in the activation of an adjacent icon's routine. This didn't happen originally. It's as if the icon's reactive area has become blurred. I've run the screen calibration test a number of times, but this doesn't seem to remedy the situation. I know about the trick of using the tip of my fingernail to produce the best positive response, so I don't think the problem is my "touch". Does anyone know if there's a remedy for this, or do I just have an old and dying remote? I clean the screen with a paper towel lightly sprayed with Windex. Is that OK? Anyway, I expect a remote's touch screen to be responsive, and this one just doesn't seem to be that way any more.

And now for the big question...If this problem can't be fixed (and I'm betting it can't), what do you suggest my next remote should be? My criteria for an acceptable universal remote is:

1. Programmability
2. Touch screen sensitivity
3. Good selection of prebuilt icons

Thanks for your help

Kurt

if you are happy with a Pronto, I would go with a TSU-3000 or even better yet a TSU-7000

I agree with Anthony, but I'd also try reflashing the firmware to see if helps. Sometimes this does the trick.

Jim, you are right, when I started reading his post the first thing I thought was he needs to recalibrate the screen, but then he said it he tried it so I totally forgot an old faithful cure all like reflashing the FW

How do you do that? Do you mean activating the "reset" button and then reloading the sofware?

Connect up to Pronto Edit. Go to the TOOLS pulldown and into UPDATE FIRMWARE. Select your remote and away you go.

Thanks Tyrrp. That seems to have improved things a little bit, but I still find that some buttons are more resonsive than others. One thing that disturbs me is that when I try to perform the touch screen calibrate, it increasingly takes me many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many attempts to get the calibration to pass. I don't think that's typical. Is it?

I have another question. Is there any way to copy the attributes of one button into another?

You can make a copy of a button. Paste it were you want it then change the icon or even simpler just ALIAS the button.

Kurt,

No that's not normal for a calibration. I'd suggest using a toothpick, stylus or pencil point rather than a fingernail. It's a much more precise point.
