I just started using a usb-serial adapter from radio shack. I could upload from my pronto 2000 no problem but it won't download a new ccf and instead reverts to the factory original.
Any ideas?

Try tapping the screen prior to downloading to wake up the remote, if that fails...

Read the FAQ and buy a Keyspan adapter as suggested.

You might also want to slow to the baud rate if you can in the device properties.
