Hi, my TSU-2000 battery reads 4.8 volts using a volt meter yet when connected in the Pronto battery bay, the Pronto blinks low battery and dies within a minute. All terminals/connection points seem clean and not bent, yet no cigar. I have tried to charge the battery several times and the charge light comes on but goes out after about a half hour. I have cleaned all battery and charger connection points with no success. The battery MIGHT be dead but since it reads 4.8 volts, I am confused.

Any thoughts? Would a firmware update help? SOS!!!

Thanks!!!

It is possible that the battery is dead. Just because a battery reads 4.8 votl, does not mean it has the amperage to keep the remote on.

However, have you tried regular AA batteries? If you have, and the results are the same, then the problem is the connections. A few people have complained about colder solders for the connections in the remote.

First try the AA batteries. Even if you dont have the spacer, try it anyways. Of course you wouldn't be able to use the remote for "ever". But at least you are testing.

OK....now are my prontos possesed by demons? I have 3 Pronto TSU-2000's and I swapped 2 batteries. Now, the "bad one" takes a charge and both are NOW charging! Ugh! I am now wondering if a connection WAS somewhat dirty???

What is best way to clean terniels? Rubbing alcohol? Denatured alcohol?????

Thanks!!!!

Could be dirty terminals or what is known as a "cold" solder joint. You might search for the past 2 years for +cold +solder +joint and read up on this subject.

I recommend gently cleaning the terminals with a pencil eraser...
