Lyndel - thanks. I went ahead anyway, and used an external
800mA quick blow fuse (I have a large packet of them)
and no blow so far! At least now I can change the fuse
without opening the dock again, and I have my Pronto back
up and running. Trying to get the Bel fuse here in the
UK was a bit tricky, and my fix just took a few minutes.

oops sorry for the double-post, this was meant for andrew potts

hi,

ive been reading these posts after my local repair shop wasnt interested in repairing (or even looking at) my Philips TSU6000 remote/charger.

having read here, i now know exactly what the fault is. The Fuse.

In my case its completely fried :(

I like your idea of having the fuse located externally and i would be very grateful if you could post (or email me) some pics of what fuse you used and holder (if any).

many thanks.

i will get this thing working yet, lol!

peace

Does anyone know the polarity on a Genuine Philips PSU pack ?

i have a 12v 400ma psu, (not Philips) but im not sure if i have blown the fuse using a non-genuine psu ??

So i dont do it again, could someone confirm if the centre pin on the Philips psu is (+) or (-)

thanks

Sorry to conjure up such an old thread, but my dock stopped working and I've opened it and don't see anything that resembles a fuse. Anyone have any pictures, the FAQ said that it should be in the upper left hand corner.

nevermind, sorry found it, I expected to see an actual fuse and not a soldier fuse.

Looks sort of like a big piece of pencil lead from a really fat pencil.

I'm so grateful for this site! I was about to toss my TSU6000 when I discovered this thread and determined that the fuse was my problem.

BTW, I had no problem taking the DS apart -- I used the plastic tool for taking apart an ipod case -- worked like a charm and did no damage at all to the DS plastic. I just pried the tool under the DS joint at bottom to release the tab there then slipped in around both sides toward the top. It pries apart the bottom part of the DS so that the tabs release easily. I ordered new fuses from DigiKey and when they arrive my TSU6000 will be back in business.
