Could someone please clear this up for me.

Is the Proto compatible with all Sky+ features?

It's just that the Sky+ box is made by Pace and I think i read somewhere that the remote dosent work with Pace boxes (or can it just not learn from pace boxes?)

Thanks!

I think Pace is the company that made a cable tuner that used IrDa. Most learning remotes can't learn IrDa, even though many could send it if programmed some other way.

The only Sky+ I know of uses an RC6 variant, which is very much easier for a learning remote than IrDa and shouldn't be any problem for a Pronto.

I forget which company(s) make the box for SKY+, but I think there is more than one company and Pace is one of them (and the SKY+ IR signals are the same even if the brand is different).

So if all my vague memories on the subject are right, Pace makes both an IrDa system that would be hard to learn and a SKY+ system that wouldn't be hard to learn.

The Pronto should work with the SKy+, no matter if its a box built by Pace or the newer ones built by Amstrad. These Sky+ remotes uses a normal IR-protocol and these remotes are designed by Universal Electronics (the company behind One For All and the worlds largest OEM manufactor for universal remotes), see also:

The notorious Pace boxes who use IRDA are not the boxes for BSkyB but the cableboxes Pace produces for NTL and Telewest. Unless you buy an IR to IRDA coverter for these boxes you can not operate them with a Pronto. If I'm not mistaken only One For All produces universal remotes who can operate these IRDA-boxes (my 5 year old OneForAll URC-7560 doesn't have any problems with these IRDA-boxes, I can update code 1068 via modem and than it works).

BTW the correct Sky+ setup-code is on my OFA the SAT code 1175, but I don't think this code will be in the memory of the Pronto. However you can use the learning feature of the Pronto in order to operate the Sky+ box.

I just looked in PENG for the RU-890 if you go to the Universal Database under SAT/Pace/codeset 1202 that is what Mr_E is talking about. The Universal Database comes from UEI and they have added 27 decimal to their normal setup codes for OFA remotes.

I wasn't sure of which offset Philips is using, but if it is +27 then 1202 is indeed the correct code for all UK Sky+ boxes.

Do you have a ccf file for SKY+. I have an AMSTRAD box and want to get my SKY plus onto my MARANTZ 5000.
Thanks.
