Does anyone have experience with a better remote control av selector? I am using the radio shack stereo av selector and it is very hit or miss. It seems to be unreliable in accepting a signal. Any advice, or a better component would be very appreciated.

I have used the Radio Shack 15-1977 switcher several times and it has worked very well. An added feature to this box is that it converts composite video to S-Video as well. It has IR learning and discrete input selections too. We use it on smaller systems typically, but it has always worked well.

yes, this is the one I am using. Is it possible it works better with certain commands? The radio shack guy said I should use on/off codes. While I tried this, it inadvertantly turned on and off other equipment. What codes did you give yours? I find mine is slow to respond or does not respond. Is yours completely free of other equipment? Mine is next to my equipment. Any hints?

Try using Sony codes for your switching commands.

I had the same problem until I used Sony codes. After that, it worked like a charm.

John, that cracks me up. Radio Shack has an IR-controlled antenna A-B switch. Older Sony DSS remotes (I haven't checked this for a couple of years) would accidentally switch this. About ten DSS remote buttons would give you "A" and another ten or so would give you "B." Sounds like some Radio Shack products yuse codes that are REAL similar to Sony codes, doesn't it?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Thanks
