I have a Bose LS48 2nd generation and a ProntoPro TSU6000/01 with the RF extender. I am completely a newbie to the pronto world but my friends swear by it and people say they have seen others with the Bitmap image for the LS48 and all working functions on the remote. Is this possible, is there a place I can get the CODEC & BITMAP, or are people just blowing smoke at me to tout the remote? I have seen many posts RE: the LS 28,35 and 38 but these are all different because they dont have the Umusic/Roomshare capabilities of the LS48. Any help or direction on where to procure these files and or instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks-Everett

Hi all,

Does Serial Data, RS422 mean anything to you guys ?

I know that the model 50 & 20 can be controlled via the Serial Data 3.5mm stereo jack input on the rear of the unit. (Baud 1200,8,n,1).

This is NOT an RS232 input and connecting a PC serial port to it will probably pop the receiving chip. (232 = +/-12v), This port expects TTL level data (+/-5v) so either a MAX232 type chip to act as a gateway between 232-TTL or RS422 (available on AMX & Crestron) uses acceptable voltage.

My dilemma is that I'm face with an Old Lifestyle Model 5, which DOES have the 3.5mm input but it's labeled "System Control" rather than "Serial Data". Does anyone have any experience with this blighter ?

I am seeking a solution that will have my Bose Lifestyle 50 work with an RTI T3. Does anyone know of a software/hardware solution?

The newer Bose Lifestyle system can be switched to IR and then an IR remote (pronto or others) will work on the system. AFIK, the Bose Lifestyle 28, 38 & 48 and I believe the 1-2-3 can be changed to IR and controlled by the Pronto or other IR remotes, Nevo SL, etc.

The earlier models can also be controlled with IR, using the Bose device available from BlueDo.com I believe it is an IR-to-RS-232 controller.

Let me know if you have questions on this. We supply Pronto, Nevo, and other remotes to control Bose.

Dave,

I cannot find anyone who carries the IR to rs-232 controller. I contacted Audio Authority who made the c-1024 and most of their suppliers to no avail. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

Dave,

Many thanks on the info prior. After much research and blog digging I still can’t seem to find anyone who has already created a decent Bose LS48 CCF (well for the TSU6000 at least). I am aware of the ability to switch to IR but since I own the RF extender this might not be necessary. I thoroughly apologize for asking this question if it is perhaps the 400th time you have gotten it but: Is there someplace I can look to find such files or CCF's for my model or is it just that because of my model being so old that it might be that no one is bothering to improve the TSU6000 Bose LS48 pre set codes/ccf's? Thanks again in advance for your time.

Regards,

Everett

There are a couple of ccfs for the 48 in the files area, look here: [Link: remotecentral.com]. These are TS1000 files (which will work in a 6000), but the codes may work and you can design your own graphics.

UPDATE

Bose and BlueDo are no longer selling the device required to control older Bose LS systems.

Hi everybody, please go to bose.com and take look at two
new Lifstyle systems (LS28 and LS35). It looks like that
IR is now included to control other components. Maybe
it is now possible to control those Lifestyle systems
with the pronto.

Emir

It sure is! This is needed to be activated through the menu. Just go in and change it from RF to IR.

Hello,

For those who are in need of using an IR remote control with a Bose Lifestyle 20, 25, 30, 40, or 50 system, the C-1024 from Audio Authority has now been re-released. It is now known as a "C-1024A" due to some changes to the product.

It is known to work with Philips Pronto and most Harmony remote controls. It can be found through Audio Authority Authorized Resellers and directly from AudioAuthority.com.

Best Regards,

Trent
