The "1" button on my TV-device menu is not working properly. I've tried relearning it from the original remote several times with little success; meaning, only after several times of touching the button does it work. All of the other buttons on that screen, and others, work fine...it's only the "1" button. I even tried programming channel button "2" as that button, but it still wouldn't work well. Any suggestions???

I was having the same problem with mine learning the magnavox starsight comand "right" and "exit".
What I ended up doing was deleting all the button fuctions on that page and then went back to use mode and removed the batteries "rebooted" with reset and releaned all the buttons again. I figure that maybe all you have to do is delete that one and "reboot" and then teach it again. Mine works fine now but make sure the batteries in the source remote are good and that when learning the pronto is sheiled from interferance like forecent light ect. Good luck and enjoy I hope?

The good news is that once the Pronto software is released, if you have Philips based products (Philips, Marantz, Magnavox, and others) the RC-5/6/MM codes are all internal in the software and therefore assignable directly rather than having to be learned.

Do you think it's possible Philips will once the software is released provide an update which may contain codes for other brands as well in near or far future?

Each complete Pronto program is stored in a config file. If one wants to add a new device, one simply merges the new device into the existing config file. So, in future, I expect that USERS could likely post configs for various controls on a website. Philips site? Don't know. Perhaps here?
Of course not only would you get the codes but also whatever graphics the user has loaded/created, like mfr logos as an example.

Have you tried the reset button.
It fixed an IR transmit problem that my pronto had.

I had the same thing happen with the "right" button I had programmed for my 4dtv. It suddenly would not respond after working fine for a week. I tried reprogramming it without success. I finally removed the batteries. Once I replaced them it worked fine.

I suspect a corrupted IR code somewhere. If this kind of problem persists, this is where the config files in the software will come in handy. The config files store all the codes so they can be sent for examination to clarify/identify the problem. Of course reset is the best short term solution as it just boots the CPU and forces a reload of the config file that you've saved.

I had this same problem with one of my 4DTV buttons as well. I replaced the batteries and all was well :)
