Has any owner attempted to teach the pronto X-10 commands? I had tried with my rc2000mk1 with no success. The remote said that it learned the commands(ok words flashed), but when I tried to execute a command nothing happened. I want to use the X-10 to power my amp and control lighting. I am not sure what the x-10 ir frequecy is.

Warren,

I've not yet tried this but plan on using this to trigger macros in SmartLinc systems. I'll be checking it out tomorrow.
Based upon what I know about Pronto, it should work. I'll let you know what my results are.

I'm able to control X-10 using the Infrared X10 Command Console. You can get it at [Link: smarthome.com]. The problem I'm having is, I can only control codes 1-9. I can't see a way to control 10-16. I'd also like to control other house codes other than A, since that's long been used up :) Anyone have any ideas?

Well, I got my Pronto yesterday, and immediately tried programming it with X-10. Sadly, it has the same problems/limitations as the RC-2000 Mk 1 in this regard.

I have been able to teach it all the number keys, the on and off for individual devices, all off (I haven't tried all on, but I suspect that it's not a problem), dim and bright. Herein lies the problem--the Pronto refuses to repeat the dim/bright controls when you hold down the key.
While in learning mode, I've tried pulsing the signal and a variety of other methods, but the best I can do is to have it memorize a medium length sequence (a fixed number of steps) of dim/bright.

So in order to go from full bright to full off using the learned dim function, I have to press the corresponding button on the Pronto at least three times; holding it down doesn't work as the Pronto will NOT repeat the IR code. Tried this with several Sony remotes with no problem, and the original X-10 IR 6-in-1 of course, had no problems. For some reason, the RC-2000 and the Pronto (same engineers?) won't "repeat" X-10 IR codes. Plus teaching it the codes is a trickey affair...

Ivan--

I realize that the pronto cannot be programmed witht X10 dim/brighten commands to the point where you to hold the key until the desired light level is reached, but...

Using macros, can it be programmed to set the lights to a fixed level? In my theater, I only need 3 levels: Full bright (movie's over), half dimmed (movie's starting soon), and almost fully dimmed (movie's on). Could I at least do this well?

Robert,

About that IR to X10 controller you mentioned,
it must have an IR emitter eye to teach the Pronto, or does it have it's own remote you
could use for that?
