I am newbie to this domain and would really appreciate any help from the members.

The original remote for my Cambridge Audio Azur 551R Receiver is lost and I have no way to power it on or even change volume without using the controls on the system itself.

I have a One for all 7960 universal remote that I use for my TV and DVD player but never really used for the Azur receiver so far until its remote is lost now.

I am wondering if it is possible to manually program my URC 7960 with the Cambridge Audio remote codes at least for few of the basic functions (power, volume).

I downloaded a IR codes document from Cambridge Audio that has Decimal command codes so I am not sure how I can set these codes on my URC 7960 to make it work.

Here is sample from the Cambridge Audio IR codes document:
System Code = 16 (RC-5 Code)

Key: Tuner AM/FM
Command Code (decimal): 64

Key: Power
Command Code (decimal): 74

Is it possible to use the above codes and program my URC 7960 with the corresponding keys?

I was searching for a conversion tool before posting but had no success in getting the 5 digit EFCs.

I used RemoteMaster and chose to use the RC5/RC5x Protocol executor because it is built into your remote.   Then I entered the device number and OBC (function numbers) on the Functions tab.  RM computed the corresponding EFCs.

the remote is a oneforall ur7960 as per sarsa's original message.

The Azur 351R uses the NEC IR protocol device 192.  The URC7960 is capable of sending this IR protocol using the STB device setup code 1611.  If you prefer to use some other device button than STB, you'll need to follow the procedure in the 7960 extra features manual for changing a device mode to make e.g. the MP3 button act as a STB type button.  Then assign setup code 1611 to the e.g. MP3 button.  Make sure that the remote blinks twice which indicates that 1611 was accepted.  The 5 digit EFCs are:

BTW, for newer OFA and other remotes made by UEI, most of these commands are sent by setup code Audio 4154.

don't know if i am missing something, but i can't get those codes to work.

i have factory reset the OFA control and then tried programming the 1161 setup code to the STB function. This and the individual codes for each function are accepted ok but the remote doesn't operate any of the 351r functions.

there doesn't seem to be a problem with the receiver as one of the codes given on the OFA website works partially (the 'power on/standby' and volume functions work with setup code 1647 on the amp and mp3 functions).

i have also tried programming another function as STB as you suggested, but no joy.

I wish you had mentioned that you had already found a partially working setup code.  Audio 1647 sends NECx1 device 192.192.  This is a slightly different protocol than described in the Azur 351R pdf file, which is NEC1 device 192.63. Also, the function numbers sent by 1647 are different to the ones in the document. I'll do some more investigating later today.

I told you the wrong setup code.  Instead of STB 1161 please use STB 1611. Also, I  didn't notice that the Azur pdf file has a second table with the NECx1 protocol.
The functions and EFCs posted in my previous post are correct for setup code STB 1611.  The following functions and EFCs would need to be used with setup code Audio 1647, but these are already programmed into 1647 at the factory:
Vol+    00187
Vol-    00250
Mute    00116
Standby/On    00052
Source Rotate    00184

You'll probably want to have all of these functions on one device button.  There are a couple of ways to accomplish this.  I think the easiest approach is to temporarily assign Setup code 1611 to the STB button (don't change the mode from STB), and to assign 1647 to one of the Audio (Amp or MP3) buttons.  Then use the following 994 procedure (also detailed here) to make the keymoves.

1. Hold Magic until the Blue Ring blinks twice.
2. Enter 994
3. Tap the STB button
4. Tap Magic again
5. Enter a 5 digit EFC from my earlier post (e.g. 00244)
6. Tap the Audio button which has setup code 1647
7. Tap the function button  (e.g. Right Arrow)

The remote should blink twice.  Once all of the EFCs are assigned, you can change the STB button a different setup code if desired.
