having read you can region free the bdt220 panasonic, i bought a urc7140 but im having trouble with some of the steps
after entering 0490 do i then enter 1.00191 and all the other numbers one after the other, also it says - 4. enter 5 digit code from above
does it mean i enter all the codes all over again.
also - press button (1,2,3 etc..) where to program it
im lost

prepare:
1. select dvd device on remote
2. hold magic button until the DVD button lights up and stays lit up.
3. enter device code 0490 (DVD button blinks twice)

program buttons with the following codes:

1. 00191 = ENTER
2. 00120 = 6
3. 00065 = >=10
4. 00180 = <<
5. 00143 = Service Key
6. 00155 = AUDIO
7. 00122 = 8
8. 00117 = 1
9. 00129 = SUBTITLE
0. 00123 = 4

1. hold magic button until the DVD button lights up and stays lit
2. press 994 (DVD button blinks twice)
3. press magic
4. enter 5 digit code from above
5. press button (1,2,3 etc..) where to program it (DVD button blinks twice)
6. repeat steps 1 to 5 for all keys.

Switch on DVD player, make sure theirs no disc in it.
Press the One For All Remote buttons in the following sequence
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0

These instructions first show 3 steps which assign the 0490 setup code to the DVD button.  Then it gives a list of 10 5 digit EFCs.  You will need to assign the 10 EFCs to 10 different buttons on the remote.  They suggest the number buttons 1, 2,.....9, 0, and that's a good suggestion.  But this is just a list, and not steps in the instructions.

The instructions continue with steps 1 through 5.   You'll do this set of steps 10 times, first assigning 00191 to the "1" button, then re-do the 5 steps to assign 00120 to the "2" button, etc.

Once all 10 EFCs are assigned to buttons "1" through "0", the programming of the remote is finished.  Next, send the 10 IR signals to the DVD player by pressing button "1" through "0", in order.

What a coincidence, I just spent to wee hours this morning trying to find region free hack for the panasonic dvd-f87 5 disc player, didn't come up with a thing. Wake up to your post, tried it worked. Thank you. But it didn't work on my Panasonic Bluray player, which is a DMP-BD60, which doesn't look good for your bdt-220 bluray player.

Now I will try to help you. First code 0490, is the setup code to control your bluray, does it? Does power , play control the BR? If not, you will have go into the menu of the panasonic and adjust it to REMOTE 1 code, and the oem remote as well. I'll go on, The 5 digit codes have to be mapped to keys on your OFA remote, one at a time like so:

1. hold magic button until the DVD button lights up and stays lit
2. press 994 (DVD button blinks twice)
3. press magic
4. enter 0 0 1 9 1
5. press #1 key, the light blinks twice.

Now the next one:

1. hold magic button until the DVD button lights up and stays lit
2. press 994 (DVD button blinks twice)
3. press magic
4. enter 0 0 1 2 0
5. press #2 key, light blinks twice

next:

1. hold magic button until the DVD button lights up and stays lit
2. press 994 (DVD button blinks twice)
3. press magic
4. enter 0 0 0 6 5
5. press #3 key, light blinks twice

now repeat for the other seven 5 digit codes, except changing the 5 digit code in step four, and the button number in step five.

Once all digits are mapped, then try the steps, pressing 1 through 0, one after the other.

it worked, thanks edmund and 3fg im now region free for dvd's although it does not make bluray disks region free, i have a load of different region dvd's anway
