I sent my remote into the Customer Service shop, along with my JVC/Sirius remote, since they did not have a code for it. I appreciated the addition of the 1811 code for my JVC/Sirius receiver. I think a JP1 plug was installed, too.

However, despite my asking that it be put on the SAT key, the JVC/Sirius was instead placed on the RCVR-AMP key. Now, I cannot control the Technics tuner-amp that I need to use in order to hear the JVC/Sirius.

Can I move the 1811 code (or its equal) to the SAT key for the JVC and resume using the RCVR-AMP key for the Technics? Or is there a sequence I can put into the the remote to use the SAT or the HOME THEATRE key to control the Technics?

Since the remote now has the JP1 pins (I'm pretty sure they weren't there before) is my only solution to buy the cable and move/remap the device? And if I do, will I lose the JVC/Sirius code they put in?

I've decided not to put the Technics code on the RCVR-AMP key until I hear from UEI or get feedback from this forum.

First: DO NOT put anything else on that RCVR/AMP key yet. Good call on that.
Next: With jp1 you could download the entire contents of the remote as it now is and very easily change the device. But you don't have that, so...

Your next impulse was correct, you can control the Technics with the SAT key. It's called a Device Mover function, and is documented in your "manual" (you know, that cheesy little piece of paper they put in there.

Nothing will happen to the upgrade code if you program over it with technics setup code. You want the SAT key to have code 1811, here's how:

1. press and hold SET for two blinks
2. enter 9-9-2
3. press AUD
4. press SAT

5. press SAT
6. press and hold SET for two blinks
7. enter 1-8-1-1

I followed the latter advice, moved the RCVR-AMP (AUD) function over to SAT and loaded the Technics code on to RCVR-AMP. Success: now the Sirius/JVC is on SAT and the Technics RCVR is on RCVR-AMP.

Now, I'll read up on the Advanced Codes to install the Technics Surround-Sound Processor to the remote, something I had not had the nerve to try before. Thanks to both of you for help and encouragement.

Aargh. I have to stop doing late-night posts. I lose my mind and forget basics.

Of course the code is in the EEPROM, and can be assigned to another device. UEI loaded it just like one of us from the jp1 group would have. I feel stupid for telling you differently.

Glad all is working out so far.
