I'm still a diehard, planning to use my Q50s until they die! :) I just haven't seen anything I like better yet....
Anyway, I'm setting up a couple new components. In trying to establish serial control for a Sony TV, I get a constant red from the NC-50 port's indicator light. This occurs on any port I try, and starts immediately when I plug in the cable.
I dug up the old NC-50 documentation, but it has nothing about port indicator light behavior. Does anybody know what the constant red light means? (TV control has not been successful yet, BTW)

Are you using a nevo serial adapter?

Sorry, I didn't get a reply alert.
The problem seems resolved, though I actually don't know how. I am using a serial adapter. At first, the port was just solid red and unresponsive, but in all my tinkering, I must have done something that made it happy.
So it's working....now I'm just going through Sony support purgatory trying to track down a command list more recent than about 5-6 generations ago. (Honestly, I've never seen a manufacturer so poorly support this feature!)
Thanks for the reply.

Brodyboy,
I have a 2012 Sony XBR 65" and it has an IR port directly on the back. So I can send all commands via IR without resorting to RS-232. It works very well once you understand the stereo mini wiring which I rec'd direct from Sony. So, if the RS-232 is flakey or not working well, direct, plugged in IR mini plug is excellent on my model.
