I run a fairly simple home theater system including a fairly complex X-10 system. I am installing Dish network with PVR. Has anyone had any experience with this and the Neo or should I just buy a 2000? I am not very concerned about running my X-10 system from the Neo but it would be nice. I am more concerned about the PVR functions of Dish Network and if anyone has a file for them. Thanks

All of the PVR functions can be learned to the NEO. I do not have my ncf uploaded anywhere since it is a mess, but they were no hassle to learn from the remote at all. The dish networks remote transmits UHF and IR at the same time. As far as which remote to go with I think you should go with the NEO for sure. The cursor pad is perfect for the guide menu, and that lets you put your PVR fuction on the same page while your viewing the television. I would find it a major pain if I had to fumble with the touchscreen every time I needed to change channels. As to why my NEO is a mess right now, I am still becoming familiar with both the NEO and my PVR. I am confident that I will be able to retire the dish network remote though. And I must say it is a great remote itself. We plan on putting a TV in the bedroom hooked up to the kids reciever and using that remote.

The NEo will not learn codes from my RCA Web keyboard for my UTV either!! But my cheap Urc remote does! It seems any remote that sends out a Repeating code or long Burst of code, messes up the NEo!

Could this be the same for x-10 codes? If so, io think it is something we all need to let Philips know! It seems that after enough people complained about the software and no uploading, that Philips did something about it!

the above link simply restates this posting. X10 codes cannot be learned. UNLESS OF COURSE you purchase an Ocelot or someother box that can take ANY ir code and can convert it to X10...but that's not the issue. we are all cheaply using the IR543.

I created a PVR screen for my Neo. The buttons still need to be learned, but the screen matches the buttons on the Dish 501 remote. You can download the screen, and customize to your preferences.

Some of the buttons are a little small, but I added white space when ever I could to make them easier to hit with a fat thumb.

Go here:
[Link: groups.yahoo.com]

And download the PVR.ncf file.

Let me know what you think!

vanderwielen,
If you had actually read the post, you would see people have had success in getting it to learn the codes.

Relax a little. I know you didn't like your NEO, but lots of people have made the investment and enjoy it. We are here to help them achieve what they are trying to with the remote.

Caroura,
Come on, just because you could not finure it out, doesn't mean other can't. I am just going by what others have said.

Now, please stop wasting board space with your Pront advertisement. This is a NEO board.

I'm not sure Philips would appriciate this, but I liked dshmel's suggestion. Just buy it, you have 30 days to return it. If it doesn't work for you your out a couple of hours. Someone might have spent that on this site already.
