Well against the advice of canoura I purchased an new NEO today. Can any of you offer any tips or advie before I get started trying to customize this? Also if any of you have learned any discrete codes for the panny rp56 and can pass along your ncf file I'd really appreciate it!

Read all the threads below. Be patience, setting it up may take quite a while depending on what you want. Download NeoEdit 1.3 if you haven't already. You will have to uninstall 1.2 first.

Good, because that is just one person's opinion. There are many more that enjoy the NEO, so hopefully, you will too.

Just make sure, as stated above, you download and install version 1.3 of the software and update your firmware as well. Version 1.3 make the NEO much much better.

A discrete code is a code that is hidden, that can do certain things on your device. For instance, most devices come with 1 button that cycles a device on/off. Using discrete codes, you can set up your remote to have a separate "On"(as well as "Off") button, that will only turn the device on and not off, if pressed again. This is nice for macro programming, as, if you have the macro turn many things on at once. If something doesn't get turned on the first macro button push, you can redo the macro again, without fear of having everything that turned on, the first time, turn off.

Well looks like I still need an ncf file that contains discrete power codes for a panny rp56 dvd player. Some one sent me a file but the power codes were not discrete.

Also does anyone know of an inexpensive remote where you can program discrete codes in it? Then we could get that to teach the codes to the NEO.

Look on eBay. You may be able to get a 1000 or 2000 for one or two bills. There are 15 TS1000's listed right now, along with 18 TSU2000's.

The Panasonic on discrete code in the files section will work but the off discrete code will not work for the new Panasonic DVD players. You'll have to configure a workaround where you send the discrete on, wait four seconds, and then toggle off.

Hello there. I just purchased my Neo, and am looking to add some simple usability to it (ie backlight staying on when touchscreen is touched, macros on device keys, custom buttom layout/removal.) However, I haven't been to any websites yet, and I run a Macintosh! I was wondering if there was any way you could help me. Here is my e-mail; I would truly appreciate it if you could help in any way. Thanks.
