Yes, another consumer, “They Seen Coming”, maybe? I bought a “NEO” this past weekend, & although not marked as such, ended up being “Out of Box”, that is to say, it had no doubt been used! First of all I do need help, or maybe not, you tell me? I read the typical 50% pro/ 50% con; i.e. FORD vs. Chevy, with regard to the “NEO & elected to go ahead & buy my “NEO” from Best Buy. 1st they price matched a WEB price of &169.95, then when I returned to the store & had them call the “Duty Mgr.” to the return counter, he agreed it was not new & took another $50.00 off & gave me a gender changer. So at this point my net cost for this device is $120.00 @ 90 days same as cash…”Not BAD”, if it works!!!

I disabled the active sync for my “iPAQ”, after reading such suggestions here & on “ProntoEdit”; I also shut down both “Norton Virus & Internet Protection”. I now get COM 1 available, but download errors, more specifically, ”Are you sure your device is connected correctly”, Yea, we’ve all been there, “Of course the damn thing is connected correctly, (@^$&*^$%@, anyhow, back on the farm!!!

It turns out the cable packaged, no, repackaged with the NEO looks to be wrong, from the “Bit Map” download of pin out on “ProntoEdit”. The dwg. Shows: Tip to Pin 2, Ring to Pin 3, & Base(?Ground?) to Pin 5. My cable has pins 2 & 3 reversed & is a male DB9, not a female as indicated in the, “POOR” instruction manual provided by Philips.

So, I suspect my problems so far are a result of the WRONG CABLE??? That coupled with the time I have wasted so far, maybe my “Good Deal” or is that “Best Buy”, isn’t, or as they say on the street, “NOT!”, a deal!!! Oh Yea, I almost forgot this was the last unit they had in stock, so the Duty Mgr. said when their truck arrives this Tuesday or Wednesday, (That would be 2-3 days after their flyer with the “NEO” advertised was distributed), he would swap cables.

Any thoughts suggestions or commentary would be appreciated, I remain; “Frustrated in Phoenix”

A final note to anyone who offers any suggestions; I am using a built to order COMPAQ 1.6 gig Pent. 4, w/ 512 Meg of ram, running WinXP.

Did you have any problems loading the NEOedit software that came with your "repackaged" product, or did you download the software from Philips website?

The pre-packaged software, although also previously used, seems to work fine. I also down loaded the update, which also seemed to work fine, but to what end if I can't get it to the "NEO".....TLC

Some time ago there was a post about changing the serial port settings (xon/xoff, etc.) You might try doing a search for it.

It is hard to believe that the cable is wrong (but possible of course). I would think that is much more likely that the documentation is wrong.

Edit: Woops, I didn't read your post carefully enough.
If your cable has a male DB9 connector how did you plug it into your computer? Serial cables are always female DB9.
