I have tried all the outlined ways (in the dark etc.) but this dang NEO will not learn the 2 buttons I need from my Kenwood RC-R0608 remote for the Kenwood VR-309 receiver. I even bought a Cinema 7+ and it learns the codes but NEO won't learn them from the cinema 7 either. Any help, preferably the NEO edit hex codes, would be greatly appreciated.

Will the NEO learn the learned codes from the Cinema 7? My most sucessful learning method was: Press key to learn to, quick press of the OEM remote(do not wait for confirmation beep) a split second later it will say learned. Not only did I have less errors this way, it was 10x faster and I felt my codes were probably much cleaner. I actually went back and relearn all of them it was so quick. None of that moving the remote all around to find just the right position either. I could just be lucky though.

Now thats strange, because on my RCA remotes, I had to press the OEM remote first and then quickly press
the button I wanted to learn on the Neo! Only the RCA Oem's remote was like this..and as far as the Cinema 7, i learned what I needed off mine, but I found that if the Neo didn't learn it off the OEM, it more then likely wouldn't learn them off the C7 remote either.

I had the same experience as allamand. Some OEM remotes worked better when pressed prior to the learned NEO button, some just the opposite and some did not matter. Also, I found distance from one remote to another was both critical and remote dependant. Once I got one button to work, I kept the distance the same nd learned the rest. Some were quite fatsre than others even on the same remote.

Anyone know how to learn a "short blast" IR signal, such as the input selector on the Kenwood VR-309?

That's why I put in that last line about being lucky. Or maybe I sound thank my shooting stars that all 8 of my remotes are super easy to learn from. Actually I did have about 5 button I was never able to learn. Some of them were in the NEO's database. The one I couldn't get was "system standby" for a Sony reciever. Had to use a code from another universal remote. Only thing was if I'd been able to learn it it would have been a discrete off. Strangely I was able to learn the discrete ons.

I tried the tip on hitting learn key than qick press of the OEM remote key you want to learn...worked exceptionally well and fast...I was holding down the OEM key and it was taking forever. I've got everything programmed but two keys - Kenwood VR-309 Video and Audio input selectors. I'll keep trying. Now I just have to reconfigure a few pages so that everything is easily workable while sitting back and enjoying. Not bad, only two weeks after I bought the thing...Patience is a virtue, and sometimes it pays off!

Thanks

Larry
