Ok, before I just jump in, start messing around with the Marantz RC3200 software editor and get frustrated to the point of wanting to throw the remote and computer through the window, does anyone have any suggestions as to the overview of the software. Where to start, what do do, what not to do, etc.

I am very familiar with all the CCF editing software, as I currently program Marantz 5000i, 5200, and 9200 remotes, and have been doing so for almost 2 years.

But just from a quick look at this software it seems they went a little backwards when they designed it.
What the hell is device overview?
Does it always create the device overview by itself?
Can I modify it?

Just some of the questions I have. I'm sure I'll have more, so please bear with me. I don't wanna come off as a pain in the a**! The software already does a good job of that.

THanks in advance,

JJP

Since the Marantz RC3200 remote is very similar to the ProntoNEO remote, I'm guessing that the software will be similar also. I have had the ProntoNEO for a month so I might be able to answer your questions.

I think Philips released the NEO & RC3200 to compete with in a different category than their higher end products so they purposely made the NEO & RC3200 not at feature complete as their other products so as to not compete head on with them.

This means using the editing software you cannot:
1) Design your own startup page. You must use their auto-generated device overview page. Since the device overview page links to all the devices, you cannot hide any pages
2) There's no way to input IR codes as HEX strings.

I have actually spent some time writing a program called the NEOHacker that can let you edit the NCF file and choose a page to become that startup page. NEOHacker will also let you enter your own IR HEX codes. Right now, I'm making it work with RC3200 NCF files also. So hang tight, it should be RC3200 compatible very soon. In the mean time, go check out the Yahoo pronot_neo Group: [Link: groups.yahoo.com]

But from an editing point of view the biggest difference is that PE was built for speed (at least once you know it) with right click menus and keyboard shortcuts. NE is much more dependent on the toolbars, so you need to keep going to it
