Is there a way to start with a fully empty page for a device and then use the learning function to program the buttons? Whenever I begin with a preprogrammed device, I am not happy with many of the button choices, and I can't seem to remove them (i.e. auto-channel programming on a Sony TV)?

Not that I know of, but you can always just preprogram in a random device you don't have, which would work just as well. You could also remove particular buttons with the same technique, learning a code from an old remote you don't use or using a benign function.
