I can look at it tomorrow.

What you basically want to do is set up a new variable, call it what you like. Let's say Power On Delay. I initially set them to false while creating them.

In your macro, change the macro type to variable. It will create two variable windows now, one true, one one false. Create (copy and paste) the same macro in both true and false windows. In the false, use a long 12 second delay. In true, create a short .5 second delay. (The times are examples, use whatever you'd like). In BOTH windows, set the variable with the variable button in the top icon bar in the macro window. Set them both to true. What this does is tell the remote after either macro is run that the tv is on.

In your system off macro, simply add a set variable for the Power On Delay variable to false. This will tell the remote the tv is off so when you turn it on next, it will run the power on delay False macro, which has the long delay. Set this in all the macros that need the delay and/or use the tv. You should be good.

Martin, you are close. You have the macro's set correctly but you have to set the variable now. To do that, you will have to do this in each macro:

Click the variable tab

Click on the variable we wish to set, and in this case select True

It will look like this in your macro window

Notice that we were on the False tab, and that we were in the TV is On variable that you set up. We will now do the same exact thing under the True tab.

What this does is tell the remote after either the false macro or true macro is run, that we want to set that variable to True. Now if you press a button which has a TV is ON variable macro, it will know to run the macro in the True tab.

Now in order to ensure this works, make sure you set the variable properly on any macro you wish to track the variable. On you System OFF macros, you want to add a set variable command to false, like this

Once this button is pressed, it will set the TV is ON variable to False so that the next time you press a button with a TV is ON variable, it will run the macro in the False tab.

I noticed you have copied your System Off macro into the off button within each device. This works fine but since you are sending the same commands, it would be easier for you to use the punch through to set your system off in all those different devices/activities. This way you only have to edit it once.

Hope this helps.

Does anyone know of a good place for me to buy this remote? I'm not a professional installer, but since this thread is in the consumer remote forum I thought it would be safe to ask. :)

I want to buy from an authorized dealer willing to supply the fully-functional software, or at least be able to get that software from URC.

I Only want to use variables for power on to all devices

For power off i use discrete codes (do i make the good choice)

You can use the discrete commands. It is of course better. You have to still put the variable "flag" or set variable in the power off macro. All it does is tell the remote what state it is in. This way it will know whether to run the false or true macro when you press a button with a TV is On variable macro the next time.

The MX880 does not allow you to use more than one variable in a macro at a time. You would have to step up to the MX980, MX890, MX1200, or the iOS or Android (and a couple disco'd remotes I wouldn't recommend) in order to do this

I mapped out exactly what you have to do with screen shots. Did you follow them? What is the problem?

The screen shots were taken off your actual file. You have a press and hold macro on your power off button. You will want to set the variable to FALSE on both the before and after of your power off macro. If you follow it step by step you should be able to get it going. I am not in front of a computer so I cannot go into your file now
