I'm trying to program an MX-700. I've got everything working fine except I can't seem to get it to learn the codes from my Vizio remote. The remote is an XRT510. Does anybody have any ideas?

Is the vizio remote wifi? Some are, and so you can't learn from them. Check the networks, do you see vizio listed, its the tv trying to communicate with the remote. Try goldstar or LG tv codes in the mx-700.

Maybe that's the problem. I pointed my remote down the hallway the opposite direction of the tv and it still turned on. I only saw one entry from vizio on my network. If it was Wi-fi, i would think there would be two entries, one for the tv and one for the remote.

I learned from some more internet research that if you hold FF and Enter for 10-12 seconds that it puts the remote in IR mode. I did that and then was able to learn from it without a problem. When I was done, I repaired the original remote with the TV to put it back in Wi-Fi mode.

Glad you got it working and set to IR, but doubt it is wifi. It is probably bluetooth.

Its definitely wifi, Bluetooth doesn't show up as a network, like vizio and recent roku do.

Is the remote showing up on the network or the TV itself?

Looking at the local networks with my computer, I see my landlords tv, DIRECT-NZ-VIZIOTV, I also see my Roku 3, DIRECT-roku-307. They use whats call WIFI-Direct. Its not Bluetooth. Previous roku like the roku xs used Bluetooth, its isn't compatible with roku 3, and vice-versa. I installed my landlords tv, and programmed his remotes.
