I have a new MX-980 and I had a professional create the programming file for me. I need to load it into the remote but I can not get it to connect with my computer. I loaded the URC software. I did a little searching here for solutions and I found back in 2009 there were issues with Vista and Windoews 7. Are there still these issues? Is because I have Windows 7 the reason? If so whats the fix? I did install Windows Mobile Device Center. However when i open it nothing happens. Says nothing connected. I know I don't have any drivers loaded for the remote. When i connected it the first time it looked for some but found none. Now it doesn't even look.

you will have to go into the device manager after the remote is plugged in and look for an unknown device.   once you find it, you will have to update the driver for the device.  you will have to point to the proper driver which you will find in your program files folder

mine is here:

C:\Program Files\Universal Remote Control, Inc\Complete Control Program\MX-980\Drivers\Windows 7_Vista

if you navigate there, you will see two folders, one contains the drivers for 32bit, and the other for 64bit windows.

...and another satisfied customer!

Though a Microsoft program opened asking me if I want to do all sorts of microsoftish things with Outlook and other things and I just clicked on through... I always fear when I do stuff like that, that I've just signed for a Sherman Tank which will arrive at any moment.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
