I have the HT PRO (URC 9811) remote. How do I clear a device key ONLY (not a reset of the entire remote control)? I want to wipe out what I programmed into the Home Theater Key so that NOTHING happens when a key is pressed in that mode.

The initials URC in that model number are not related to the URC brand name that is the topic of this thread.

You are in the wrong forum.

The right forum is:

Also, the Home Theater Key is not a device key. Lots of people are confused by the relationship between HT and a device key and ask questions like the one you asked. But you might get a better answer and/or understand the answer better if you realized HT mode is very different from a device mode. It is another layer on top of the device modes.

Also, there is a default way in which HT mode is layered on top of the device modes, so that clearing out any HT mode customization you have done would not cause key presses in HT mode to do nothing. It would cause key presses in HT mode to be passed through to other modes in a default arrangement.

I'm not sure what you might be able to do without a JP1 cable to get keys in HT mode to do nothing. Do you really want that? Why?

The reason for clearing the Home Theater Key is that the programming does not work correctly. I assigned Audio to my A/V Receiver but when I press the volume up button the TV volume goes up, when I press the volume down button the A/V Receiver volume goes down. It does not use the same device to control volume up and down.

I have tried re-programming the remote SEVERAL times and keep getting the same messed up results.

That's an unusual symptom. So I think you want advice from some of the other experts. As I said before, you're in the wrong forum to get that.

Your remote supports learned signals and keymoves and macros. Any one of those might be responsible for your strange symptoms.

I'm sure the HT mode cannot choose a different device for Vol+ than Vol-, but from your description I'm not sure which device is set as the HT vol device.

I also don't remember whether your model remote supports learned signals and/or KeyMoves specific to HT mode, or whether those must be in the device mode that is programmed for HT vol.

Thanks. I'll try to get some help in the other forum.

FYI: I have NO macros programmed and no keymoves setup.
