My old MX 700 is so tacky it is not useable. Anyone have an old back lying around? I think and mx 500 back would fit too.I sent it to URC and they want $100 flat for repair-- sounds a little ridiculous to me.

Have you tried taking the back off and cleaning it? I've done this several times to mine over the years.

I've tried soap and water with a sponge, windex, goo gone, and they all seem work pretty well.

Should at least get your by until you are ready to replace the remote outright.

What did you use and if you can't get it to not be tacky, why don't you call URC to get a new back?

I'm pretty sure oil-based substances cause this and skin oil isn't out of the lists. Residue from foods that are oily or greasy should never get onto the remote.

MX-500, MX-600, MX-650, MX-700, MX-800, MX-850 backs should all fit. Except very early MX-500 ones that didn't have the serial port bump.

I called URC many times but could never wait long enough for someone to get on the phone. I eventually sent it back with a note-- "Can you either clean or replace this back?" 3 months later after I called many times to find out what was up, they called me back and said it was $100 to repair-- wouldn't even look at it first-- I said send it back and they did-- URC was worthless on this one.

I'll take Daniel's suggestion-- anyone have an MX-500, MX-600, MX-650, MX-700, MX-800, MX-850 back?
