As the manual is almost useless, what can I do with the USB socket? I've connected it to my PC, and get no reaction.

Nothing. Like most features, playing music, USB, etc that could have been implemented, Philips abandoned them as they did all other support for this Remote years ago. The web browser cannot display some current web sites and no one has been able to figure out how to update it either. This is why I will never buy another Philips product again.

this is BS.....I am really surprised that no one has hacked/modded one of these in any way....does anyone know why the dropped this product...I always wondered, did they mess up the programming to begin with? so that the firmware updates wouldnt even work? are the old ones still around? there is a mic, why not use this atleast....and will the EPG ever go away? I still use and love it though...works great for what it does

I remember a few things from early on. It was not a huge seller, MSRP was $1600 when it first came out I believe. Philips said not enough people complained, so no more updates. When I last called for support (a while ago) they had disbanded the team that was responsible (updating the software) for it. As a matter of fact the prime support Philips gives for the IPronto is this forum (I was so mad when the tech guy told me to come here and offered nothing else. I was already here doing their job for them!). As in Philips does not do a damn thing for it. As for third party, people brought it up, but I do not think the time verses money to make something new ever came out right. I like mine and will not give it up, but it could do so much more, and Philips said it would and lied. I think the EPG is used for other remotes and will be around a while. I wish I could change how it sorts though. My subscription ran out once and I just renewed it. I know people have asked about G wireless (with WPA), EPG updates, web browser updates, making the speakers work, using the USB port, using the mic, and improving on the graphics/software over the years.
