Hello All -

I am having trouble getting my iPronto to send successive IR signals for the same digit.

For example, when I want channel 133, I get channel 13. When I want channel 711, I get channel 71. It's not a problem of not knowing the right codes, for as the examples show, the proper codes are sent at least once.

I have put a delay of up to 2 seconds between the repeats, and I still have the problem. My work around (not always practical) is to do "1-Delay-3-Delay-4-Down Channel" etc

Needless to say, it's not the way I think it should be done.

Has anyone out there seen and conquered this problem?

TIA, Miguelito

I have a guess at what causes that. If you post pronto hex for any of the digits, I will know whether my guess is correct.

Some IR protocols have what is called a "toggle bit". With that, there are two different versions of each signal.

The original remote alternates versions with every keypress. The device is programmed to reject a signal if it is the same command and same version as the last command accepted.

If that is the problem, there are a variety of possible work arounds. For example:

On some remotes, you can program a panel switch on every keypress (in addition to sending the signal) so you can have two identical looking panels containing opposite versions of the digit signals, so as you press each digit, it sends one version and switches to the panel that would send the other version. A regular Pronto doesn't do that panel switch well enough to be a good solution to the toggle bit problem. But I don't know about an iPronto.

There are other possible solutions, but I'd need to see specific Pronto Hex to give specific advice.

Another cause is that Ipronto has a bug that prohibits multiple repetitions of the same digit in a macro called from another button.
This drove me mad until I replaced calls to "macro" buttons sending multiple "cursor up" commands with just the same command list in the original button. This is a pain but works!
Weird, huh!

John and J -

Thanks. I think the problem is more in J's answer than John's.

The digit's are from Motorola Cable Codeset 0503, and as best I can tell, they don't toggle. I had an epiphany yesterday. I moved the delay to 4.0 seconds, and then would get for channel 133, channel 13 and then change to channel 3. I light went on, and I changed the delay to 0.3 seconds. Counterintuitive for me at least, but all seems to work, save for channels 115 and 116. I still end up at 15 and 16 respectively. Channel 117 is fine, so I'm still confused.

My approach has been to set Watch-Main up with 0503 digits and link to them ala' the way EPG does. In other words:

Delay 0.1 seconds
Link to Watch-Main-1
Link to Watch-Main-Delay
Link to Watch-Main-1
Link to Watch-Main-Delay
Link to Watch-Main-5

The editor doesn't seem to let me enter two IR codes directly in the same action, but it looks like I can set up:

Delay 0.1 seconds
IR Code - Digit 1
Link to Watch-Main-Delay
Link to Watch-Main-1
Link to Watch-Main-Delay
Link to Watch-Main-5

I'll test it. Is this the way you'd approach it?

...best, Miguelito

Thanks guys. Plan B worked. I put the IR code as the first of a pair of repeating digits, and as the middle of as trio (ie channel 222).

Almost where I want it. Appreciate the help.
